The family that golfs together...

...ends up fighting over who gets to drive the cart. Of course, Mom won the fight because she is so safety-conscious that she wouldn't let her underage children behind the wheel (aren't I a good mom?). Sorry Brian. Did that flash in the middle of your backswing bother you? Finally we had good enough weather to golf and there was NO baseball. Yay!
I think my son may have beaten me during this round. I was too busy being a safety-conscious Mom to play competitively (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). Next time Austin - in the immortal words of Grandma Kathy - NO MERCY!

What's wrong with this picture??

There are several things wrong with this picture from Austin's game last Friday night. Can you spot them???

Okay - I'll assume you really looked at it and tried to figure it out. With my apologies to Perez Hilton for my shaky "telestrating," here's what I can see that is just plain wrong. That is 13 year old Austin playing shortstop and the other 13 year old kid (and I use the term kid loosely) from the other team getting a MONSTER lead off 2nd base. Notice the shadows - that would mean there was sun (re: NOT raining) and blue sky. We haven't had our sprinklers on during the month of June - how weird is that?
Here's one more picture - Austin barely came up to his chest. What are they feeding those boys in Murray?!

So much fun it must have been 'Wicked'

It has been a LONG time since we had a "bonding" weekend, so we took a little trip to San Francisco last weekend to see "Wicked." We had perfect weather and had a great time exploring. Here was a little soft focus in our hotel lobby... It was great to see Trent live and in person!
Look out SF!

Wicked was sooooo good I actually cried
Breakfast by the bay.Annie & Christy in front of "The World."
There were SOOO many sailboats in the bay.
The sounds of Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf...

Show-off! The Sea Lions were massively entertaining (as well as loud).

Snack time at Ghirardelli Square (right before our hot fudge sundae's that we had for lunch).
The view from Lombard Street. The walk up to this street about killed me. I'm getting OLD (but not so old that I didn't totally appreciate the view - it was worth it)!
The incredible Palace of Fine Arts - I'm so glad we found this (thank heavens for the book in the hotel room). It was so much bigger than we thought it would be. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palace_of_Fine_Arts On our way to the ballgame. (Not pictured: Annie's 5" heels) Randy Johnson picked up his 301st win. San Fran - who knew it was so "floral"? There were so many hydrangeas everywhere!
Swain Crew..(bump bump)...OUT!

Aaargh...

Austin is a proud grandson...his grandma graduated from the "Blue Hair School for Pirates" today. Okay - not really. Grandma had a little eye surgery today. It was a good thing that Austin was out of school - he got to be "Austin Nuttall... Male Nurse" today. He can be quite helpful when he wants to be. Okay - I have to say - Jessie is a great sport. She let me take this picture knowing it would end up on the blog. What a trooper!

So I was standing at my front door talking to someone and I heard the ice cream truck. I watched as the truck came blazing into our cul-de-sac (no trolling for kids for this driver) and stopped right in front of our house and waited and waited and waited until the skinny blonde appeared. Hmmm. Do you think Caitlin might just be her best customer?

Random Stuff...

Okay - it's time for me to be a freakishly proud mama again! Our little buddy made the all-star team again this year! Way to go Austin! Caitlin has been doing her impression of "The Thinker" from "Night at the Museum" constantly (you know ... "check out the gun show over hear - boom, boom, fiyapowa!"). She kept it on a continuous loop at dinner on Friday night.
Caitlin has been busy designing t-shirts that she wants to be sold at Ruth's Diner. She thinks she'll have enough for her Ferrari soon. This is Caitlin with her dad and the owner of Ruth's Diner.

Here's the Ferrari Caitlin has all picked out (of course, she would also take the black or red one in the background if she had to). Caitlin grew attached to it when she and Brian took it for a spin.

This was the view driving down I-15 in Caitlin's future car.

Here is the picture of me driving the Ferrari...

PHOTO NOT AVAILABLE

Oh - that's right. I'm the only one who takes pictures and I was too busy enjoying the driving experience to snap a photo of myself. It was quite the drive! It would have been more enjoyable if Brian wouldn't have been sitting there telling me to "step on it!".

8 Years, 8 Months & 17 Days

That is how long it took Caitlin to reach 50 pounds! It's official - we were at the doctor's office yesterday.

In honor of her weighty achievement, I'll post a video she's all excited about. A local musician was playing his 7 year old daughter's favorite part of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" when he realized a striking resemblance to Coldplay's "Viva La Vida." Check it out!
