Olympic Flashback

Watching the Olympics every night has made me nostalgic, so we're pulling out some pics from 2002. Here's hoping the games will come back here again one day. Every venue had a preview event to 'test the waters' so to speak. This was at the speedskating event. Those Dutch folks were enthusiastic to say the least. Caitlin had a bit of an issue with how loud it got (again, I blame the Dutch), but she looked cute with her 'merican flag. I still haven't figured out how Austin got a Japanese flag on his forehead, but oh well. Our own Olympic Village. I think they should have tightened security a little bit - look at all these hooligans!

The United States team enters the stadium during the opening ceremonies. This was one of the few pictures I took that didn't have the heads of the Italian folks sitting in front of us in the photo also. They may have blocked my pictures, but they were quite entertaining. Congratulations on the Olympic gold medal Austin! That would be the actual Ladies figure skating gold medal (see below). One of our friend's father was the project manager at the company that made the medals so we had a little preview. They were very heavy and the silver was the prettiest.
Aunt Teri came to check out the festivities.

Was this before or after Smash Mouth at the Olympic Medals plaza? Either way it was an awfully fun night!

Opening Ceremonies... awesome!!

Those were great pictures and a great time. We hope they venture back to the rockies soon. The kids look so young and it seems like it was just yesterday, time flies.

Wonderful pictures. So jealous too. I love the Olympics! Ty has a niece that may be in the summer Olympics in London - rowing - and the kids are convinced we are going to cheer her on. I better start playing the lottery, LOL

Love the pics, I do hope we get the olympics again some day. It is amazing how many of the Olympians live in the S. L. Area and train. I need them to end, however, so I can get something done, and get to bed at night.
